Relocating to Andorra is not one application. It is a set of connected decisions about your right to reside, tax position, home, bank account, company, family and daily life. Some can be prepared remotely. Others depend on approval from a bank, authority, landlord, school or insurer.

That distinction matters because “full relocation service” has no standard meaning. One provider may prepare a residence application. Another may also coordinate housing, banking, company formation and first registrations. A third may introduce outside specialists but leave you to manage every handoff.

The short answer

Professional support is most useful when your move contains several dependent workstreams, regulated advice crosses jurisdictions, or you cannot be in Andorra to coordinate every step. If you only need one clearly defined task, a full package may be unnecessary.

What people mean by “Andorra relocation services”

Prospective movers rarely ask for one isolated service. Residence, personal banking, housing, tax, family and trust in the professional tend to arrive as one problem. The useful question is therefore not simply which company is “best,” but which workstreams your facts create and who owns each handoff.

“I have been told that I need a lawyer to open a bank account and to even find an apartment to rent. Is that really true?”Prospective mover also asking about walkability, nature, residence and finding trustworthy support · Facebook, January 2023 ↗

You do not normally need a lawyer merely to view a home or submit a bank application. You may need legal advice for eligibility, a lease, company structure or contracts; administrative help to assemble and file; banking support to prepare KYC; and local coordination when several steps collide. The page below separates those functions.

What a complete Andorra relocation can involve

The table below is a scope map, not a promise that one firm performs every task. Use it to see which workstreams apply to your household and who will be accountable for each one.

Choosing a service level

How much relocation support makes sense?

An individual or couple with a straightforward residence case, prepared documents and an existing home may only need a route check, document review and filing support. Paying for company formation, tax structuring or a managed property search would add cost without solving a real problem.

A family can have a simple principal residence route but a complex move. School capacity, curriculum, language, housing location, insurance and dependant documents need to be coordinated before arrival. In that case, the most valuable service may be practical relocation management rather than sophisticated immigration advice.

A founder needs a wider scope. The residence route, foreign investment, company, bankability, payment processing, tax, CASS, accounting and any retained foreign entity must operate as one design. A provider offering “company and residency” should explain whether it owns that whole operating chain or only completes the formation and immigration filings.

For a high-net-worth household, the difficult work may sit outside the Andorran application: source-of-wealth presentation, investment sequence, property decisions, trusts, existing companies and departure-country tax. A local relocation coordinator can manage the move, but regulated advice may still be required in every relevant jurisdiction.

Company moving an owner or executive

The corporate and personal scopes must be separated. The company may own the structure, governance, banking, accounting and internal approvals, while the individual owns personal records, housing and family decisions. Possible workstreams include the principal residence file, dependant applications, housing, schools, arrival support and corporate or tax coordination. A written responsibility matrix prevents important personal or company tasks from falling between advisers.

First decide whether Andorra fits the life you are moving

Before comparing tax rates or residence routes, consider whether Andorra suits your everyday life. You may be planning passive residence, continuing work outside Andorra, moving with your family or running a business. The starting point is your actual situation: how you spend your time, where your income comes from, how often you travel and what each member of your household needs.

Andorra is a small mountain country reached by road through France or Spain. The centre can feel compact and convenient, while higher or more distant parishes create different winter, sunlight and driving conditions. International airport travel requires planning. Rental supply can constrain timing and location. Catalan is the official language, and an English-speaking household should not assume every administrative or everyday interaction will operate in English.

For some people, safety, mountains, proximity to Catalonia or southern France and a quieter routine are precisely the appeal. For others, the limited size, road access, language adjustment or social rhythm becomes the reason to leave.

A four-year resident summarised the trade-off candidly:

“You’ll get out of Andorra what you put into it; it won’t just come to you the way a place like Barcelona or London does.”Four-year resident discussing family integration · Reddit, September 2025 ↗

The practical trade-offs are predictable:

  • Frequent international travel adds road time. Build Barcelona, Toulouse or another departure point into the real door-to-door journey rather than comparing flight times alone.
  • The parish changes daily life. A central address may reduce car dependence; a higher or more distant home can offer quiet and mountain access but change the winter commute.
  • A non-working partner needs a plan too. Work, school and tax may justify the move for one person while the other loses a social and professional routine.
  • English is useful but not universal. Plan for Catalan in official and cultural life, and for Spanish or French in many everyday interactions. Translation support is most valuable at legal, medical and administrative stages.
  • Banking is an early gate for many moves. Founders need to test the local capital account, business model and payment stack before treating the company or residence plan as feasible. Investors and some family or non-working routes may also need local financial evidence. A foreign fintech account is not automatically equivalent to an Andorran-bank certificate.
  • A timing buffer is part of the budget. Temporary accommodation and a flexible arrival date protect the move if a lease, permit, bank or school stage takes longer than expected.

Before buying advice or property, test the real weekly life: school and work journeys, airport frequency, healthcare needs, winter driving, visitors, pets, hobbies and the services the household expects to use. A tax advantage does not repair a move that fails operationally.

Relocation advice cannot make Andorra the right choice. A good adviser should help you identify a poor fit before turning it into an expensive application.

Planning the move

Where should an Andorra relocation start?

Many service pages begin with the immigration form. For a founder, investor or financially complex household, that is usually too late in the decision process. First establish whether the proposed life and business can work; then build the application timetable around the real dependencies.

The value of this map is not merely knowing that the tasks exist. It is seeing what can run in parallel, what must wait, what happens when one stage fails and who is accountable for moving the case forward.

1. Test bankability before treating the company plan as settled

For a company-linked move, the Andorran bank is an early external gate. The company-constitution process requires the future shareholder to open a local capital account, deposit the share capital and obtain a bank certificate before notarial incorporation. The bank will want to understand the beneficial owners, source of funds, countries involved, expected customers and suppliers, transaction sizes, currencies and the business model.

An introduction to a bank is not an approval. A useful adviser prepares the real case, identifies likely questions and has a contingency if the first institution declines or requests a different structure.

2. Check live housing rather than relying on old averages

A newcomer can rent before receiving residence, and a normal rental contract can provide accommodation evidence for standard active applications. The practical constraint is whether an appropriate home exists at the current price and whether the landlord accepts the household’s profile. Test supply in at least two suitable parishes and include deposits, parking, heating, temporary accommodation and professional costs in the budget.

3. Confirm the exact residence route

Andorra offers different residence routes, including active residence, passive residence and residence for digital nomads. Each has its own eligibility requirements, permitted activities, documentation, minimum-stay conditions and renewal rules. Choose the route that matches your circumstances. Immigration residence and tax residence must be assessed separately.

4. Only then time the document file

Criminal records, apostilles, translations, civil-status documents, appointments, medical checks, company work and immigration filing have different lead times and validity windows. The plan should show the critical path, the owner of every task and which decisions depend on third parties.

Sequence the real gates: the bank-first approach matters most for founders, investors, residence without professional activity and cases involving complex wealth or companies. The selected route may create a different first dependency, so confirm the live procedure before committing money or fixing the arrival date.

How the sequence changes by mover

A private family: residence feasibility, personal banking, housing and school choices should be tested together. The family can gather civil-status and school records, build a landlord file and compare areas while the route is confirmed. Final enrolment, healthcare and parish registration follow when the necessary residence and address evidence exists.

A founder using an Andorran company: personal and business tax feasibility and both personal and business bankability come first. Company design and housing can progress in parallel, but the capital account and certificate are formal incorporation dependencies. The plan also needs a fallback for a slow bank decision, delayed property or unsupported business model.

An HNWI considering residence without work: route, permitted activity, tax-residence intention, wealth origin, investment assets, banking, family and departure-country exposure should be reviewed together. Separate money that remains owned from refundable deposits, non-refundable contributions, taxes and fees before committing assets.

Residence pathways

Active and passive residence are not single options

The correct route depends on what the applicant will actually do in Andorra. Marketing labels often flatten several distinct authorisations into two categories, hiding important differences in work rights, investment, presence and renewal evidence.

For the current eligibility conditions, financial amounts and primary-source review dates behind these pathways, use our complete Andorra residency guide alongside this service-planning guide.

RouteWho it may fitWhat to understand early
Self-employed residenceA qualifying founder, administrator, shareholder or liberal professional conducting real local activity.Ownership, role, trade, bank, CASS, tax and genuine activity remain connected after incorporation.
Residence without workA person supported by external means who will not work professionally under the authorisation.Accommodation, insurance, capacity, investment, contribution and at least 90 days of main and effective residence.
Digital nomad residenceA person whose work uses telecommunications and technology without requiring a fixed geographical location, with a favourable decision from the ministry responsible for the economy.Subject to quota, suitable housing, sufficient means, insurance and at least 90 days of main and effective residence per calendar year. Initial permit: two years; renewals: two, then three, then ten years, subject to treaty exceptions. Official digital nomad requirements ↗
International professionalAn internationally oriented activity based in Andorra, with at least 85% of services used abroad.Qualifications, experience, a business plan and the limits on local staffing.
Scientific, cultural or sporting interestA person with qualifying activity and recognised international standing.A narrow evidence-heavy category, not a generic remote-work alternative.
Private geriatric, medical or therapeutic careA person admitted to a qualifying private care centre.Residence for the care purpose, without professional activity, with its own evidence and renewal pattern.
Family reunificationDefined family members linked to a qualifying sponsor.Relationship, sponsor status, accommodation, household means and sometimes insurance.

Self-employed and founder residence

A company-based case is not complete when an SL or SLU has been incorporated. The operating sequence can include foreign-investment authorisation, local bank capital, notary, registered trade, premises, tax and CASS registration, bookkeeping, annual accounts and evidence that the activity is genuine. In the relevant foreign-investment company scenario, the current procedure links the route to more than 34% participation and an administrative role.

Technology and digital-economy projects may encounter separate criteria or exemptions. Those must be confirmed from the activity and current procedure rather than added as an optimistic assumption.

Residence without work

This route is intended for someone with sufficient external means who will not work under the authorisation. It generally combines accommodation, comprehensive insurance, financial evidence, qualifying investment and a state contribution. The main and effective residence commitment is at least 90 days per calendar year. That 90-day immigration condition should not be confused with personal tax residence.

Residence is not the same as tax residence

Andorra’s domestic IRPF rules look principally at more than 183 days or the main centre or base of economic activity and interests. The departure country may apply its own residence, domicile, tie-breaker or company-management tests. A cross-border case can therefore require two advisers and two separately defensible answers.

Actual residence can be checked. Police checks can include visits to the declared home and enquiries with neighbours about whether the person actually lives there. A reported 2023 renewal case documented both. This does not mean every permit holder receives the same checks, and an immigration residence check does not settle tax residence. Meet the presence conditions of your own permit and retain genuine records of your residence and travel. Reported residence-check case (ARA, July 2023) ↗

Under Andorran domestic rules, sporadic absences can count toward the day test unless tax residence elsewhere is demonstrated. There is also a rebuttable family presumption where a non-separated spouse and minor children are Andorran tax residents. Another country may apply its own tests at the same time, and a treaty may then be needed to resolve dual residence. Keep a defensible travel calendar, but do not mistake it for the whole analysis.

Property ownership is not a residence strategy by itself

Buying or renting a home and qualifying for residence are connected in some workflows, but they are not interchangeable. A home may be accommodation evidence; under a particular residence-without-work route it may also form part of a qualifying investment. Neither fact replaces the immigration application, the route conditions or the separate tax-residence analysis.

  1. Choose the likely route first. Establish whether the property is accommodation, a possible qualifying asset or unrelated to the financial requirement.
  2. Check administrative use before signing. The contract must provide the evidence needed for immigration and Comú registration.
  3. Keep a timing contingency. Temporary accommodation can be safer than forcing the wrong lease because a permit or bank stage moved.
  4. Separate representation. The property professional transacts the home; an independent lawyer can review the legal interest and conditions.

Old online figures are dangerous

Andorra materially changed immigration quotas and requirements in 2026. Older videos, forum answers and search results still circulate with obsolete amounts, route descriptions and renewal assumptions. Every regulated figure should have a primary source and a verification date; our Andorra residency guide records those dates and sources in one place.

What a feasibility review should leave you with

  • The likely route and any viable alternative, with unresolved legal or tax facts clearly identified.
  • A household and dependant map, not only an answer for the principal applicant.
  • A dated document plan covering validity, apostille and translation.
  • Personal banking, business banking, housing and company dependencies.
  • The jurisdictions and professional roles required before money is committed.
  • Failure points, fallback options and a realistic split between remote work and visits to Andorra.

Plan beyond approval

The first residence card starts the renewal clock

A provider proposal that ends when the first card is collected should still leave the resident with the next deadline, evidence checklist and language plan. Evidence of real residence and activity is easier to keep as it is created than to reconstruct immediately before expiry.

RouteInitial periodLater periods under current procedures
Self-employedOne yearThree two-year renewals; after seven years, generally ten-year periods, subject to treaty exceptions.
Residence without workTwo yearsFirst renewal for two years, second for three years, then generally ten-year periods.

Catalan is now part of renewal planning

Catalan requirements depend on the permit category and issue date. Government guidance schedules A1 and A2 renewal requirements for specified self-employed, residence-without-work and digital-economy routes from 2029, so a multi-year relocation plan should account for language study rather than waiting for the renewal notice.

The practical response is to begin Catalan during the initial permit. Record course and examination windows, allow time for a resit and check the rule applying to the permit category and issue date. Keep a renewal folder for income evidence, CASS history, tax filings, company activity, Comú certificates, insurance, utilities and notified changes.

Document preparation

“We handle everything” still requires work from the applicant

A provider can identify, review, translate, legalise, assemble and file documents. It usually cannot obtain every personal record or sign every declaration for you. Across the main procedures, recurring document families include identity, criminal-record history, accommodation, civil status and route-specific proof of work, business, qualifications, income, investment or family relationship.

“I don’t think I would have been able to do it by myself… You still need to do some work in gathering the documents.”Resident who used a law firm for immigration and company formation · Reddit, June 2024 ↗

Foreign public documents generally need a Hague apostille or another accepted form of legalisation. Translation solves a different problem: it changes the language but does not authenticate the document. Some procedures require recently issued records, so obtaining every document too early can be as unhelpful as starting too late.

A lower-risk document sequence

  1. Map every country. List nationality, birth, current residence and previous residence history for each applicant.
  2. Order slow documents before short-lived ones. Establish lead times, then time final issue dates for the filing window.
  3. Resolve name differences. Transliteration, married names and inconsistent spellings can delay a file.
  4. Separate translation from legalisation. Record who performs each step and whether originals are required.
  5. Keep a secure index. Track issuer, issue date, apostille, translation, original location and submission status.

Make the customer workload visible

Every line in an offer should carry one responsibility label: provider-owned, customer-owned, shared or third-party controlled. A provider can prepare and file, but you may still have to obtain records, disclose facts, choose a structure, attend a bank meeting or sign declarations. The authority, bank, landlord, school, insurer, translator or notary may control acceptance and timing.

A genuinely complete document scope can cover route-specific checklists, issuing-country instructions, apostille guidance, translation coordination, expiry tracking, source-of-funds organisation, completeness review and exception handling. Simply uploading whatever the customer supplies is administrative filing, not full document preparation.

Protect sensitive records: an early comparison brief should not require passport scans, criminal records, bank statements or source-of-wealth files. Supply these only inside the chosen professional relationship after receiving clear storage, access and retention terms.

Housing

You can rent before residence. Availability and price are the real constraints.

For standard active applications, official procedures accept accommodation evidence such as a rental agreement, title of ownership or another qualifying certificate. If the applicant is not the named owner or tenant, additional domicile evidence may be needed. A suitable lease should work not only as a home, but also for immigration and later Comú registration.

€18.19/m²Average for new contracts signed in 2025
€13.00/m²Average across registered contracts

The government’s first SICAR analysis illustrates why generic averages mislead newcomers. Older and protected leases pull down the registered-stock figure, while a person arriving now competes in the current market. These are historical country-level contract statistics—not live asking prices—so the actual search must still test suitable supply.

Choose the daily routine before choosing the parish

Andorra la Vella and Escaldes-Engordany are natural starting points when walkability, offices, healthcare and shops outweigh space or mountain quiet. La Massana and Ordino appeal to households prioritising village life and outdoor access. Encamp and Canillo can improve ski access but require address-specific checks for altitude, road time and services. Sant Julià de Lòria can suit frequent journeys toward Spain.

The parish label is not enough. Test the actual school and work commute at the real time of day, winter road conditions, sunlight, heating, parking, storage, pets and access for visiting family. Prepare the landlord file before viewings with a concise household profile, income or wealth evidence, intended lease term and any guarantor position.

“Property search included” can mean four different services

  • Introduction only: an agent or portal is passed to you; you search, arrange viewings and negotiate.
  • Search assistance: the provider turns the brief into a shortlist and checks availability within a stated search boundary.
  • Accompanied search: the provider schedules and attends viewings, explains area trade-offs and helps present the landlord file.
  • Lease and move-in coordination: independent lease review, negotiation, registration suitability, inventory, utilities and handover are included.

Agree the area, maximum rent, number of rounds or viewings, who contacts listings and what happens if nothing suitable is found. A useful brief combines property facts—budget, rooms, pets, accessibility, furnishing and parking—with the daily routine and the household’s timing and risk constraints. One marginally affordable listing is not a robust housing plan.

Useful contingency

Budget for temporary accommodation instead of accepting the wrong long-term lease because the immigration timetable feels urgent. Part of Andorra’s rental market serves seasonal demand, so a furnished seasonal or medium-term rental for around six months may provide a practical settling-in period while you learn the parishes and search for the right long-term home. Check availability, total cost, notice terms and whether the contract can support immigration and Comú registration: a seasonal rental is a housing bridge, not automatically valid residence evidence.

Banking, companies and online payments

Personal banking is its own gate—not only a company task

An Andorran bank assesses the individual when a personal account is established, whether or not that person will form a company. The account is not opened automatically because you plan to become resident, have hired a lawyer or have been introduced by a relocation provider. Any natural or legal person may apply, but the bank retains the right to accept or reject the relationship.

The personal file normally needs to explain who you are, where you are currently resident for tax, what economic activity produces your income and wealth, where the opening funds came from, what the account will be used for and what transactions are expected. Depending on the profile, banks may request official photo identification, proof of address and tax residence, tax identification numbers, recent statements, a bank reference, a tax return, income evidence, invoices, contracts, sale documents, investment records or other proof of source of funds and wealth. If another person transfers money, the bank can also need to identify that third party and understand the reason.

The personal review applies to every account applicant—not only business owners. A straightforward income and wealth profile may produce a shorter evidence trail than a case involving companies, investment gains, trusts, cryptoassets or funds moving across several jurisdictions, but the individual is still personally identified and assessed. Non-residents can face enhanced due diligence and institution-specific minimum balances or asset requirements.

Why the personal account comes early

Where the selected residence route or financial-capacity file requires an official document from an Andorran bank, Wise, Revolut or a foreign-bank statement does not replace it. Establishing the local relationship can therefore become an early pre-immigration gate for private clients, founders and financially independent households. The exact certificate and timing depend on the current route and the applicant’s circumstances.

A relocation provider can help choose an institution, organise the KYC file, attend the meeting and coordinate follow-up. It cannot “open the account for you” in the sense of controlling approval. The customer must disclose the real profile and may need to appear personally, sign bank documents and answer further questions.

Personal-account sources: Andorran Banking KYC FAQ ↗ · MoraBanc resident and non-resident account paths ↗ · Andbank tax-residence identification / CRS ↗

Company banking is a separate second analysis

A founder normally needs the personal KYC review and a business review. Present the beneficial owners, source of capital, proposed activity, countries, customers and suppliers, currencies, transaction sizes, payment providers, payroll and expected money flows. The business model must be described honestly and consistently with the company purpose, contracts and tax plan.

The local capital account and bank certificate precede notarial incorporation. Once the entity exists, the operating account and merchant-acquiring requirements may create further review. Local-bank evidence also appears in some immigration and family financial-capacity cases, so the adviser should map personal, residence and company dependencies separately instead of calling all three “bank account support.”

Compare four levels of banking support

  • Introduction: a contact is arranged, but the customer prepares and manages the application.
  • KYC preparation: identity, tax residence, activity, ownership and source-of-funds evidence are organised before submission.
  • Application coordination: likely fit is assessed, meetings are supported and follow-up questions are managed.
  • Contingency support: the scope says what happens if the first application is delayed or declined and whether another institution will be assessed.

A provider working regularly with one bank may offer a familiar process but less choice. A provider comparing several institutions may find a better operational fit but cannot remove bank discretion. No ethical provider should guarantee a personal or company account.

RevolutA 2026 Andorra launch was announced, but signup remained pending at this review.Recheck the live eligibility list and features before relying on it.

If Stripe is essential, an external entity must be real

Keeping a company in a Stripe-supported country can be legitimate when that company retains a genuine commercial role. It is not enough to keep a shell solely for the Stripe login. The external entity may need its own contracts, management, accounts, bank, tax registration and physical substance, with intercompany agreements and transfer pricing between it and the Andorran company.

Once the founder moves, advisers must also examine permanent-establishment and effective-management questions in both jurisdictions. The operational comparison is broader than payment acceptance: what activity stays outside Andorra, what does it cost each year, and how do services and money move between the entities?

Company formation is a sequence, not a product

A realistic founder plan starts with the proposed activity, customers, ownership, management and money flows. It then maps foreign-investment permission where applicable, name reservation, articles, local capital account, bank certificate, notarial incorporation, registration, registered trade, premises and the tax and CASS setup. The exact order and documents depend on the activity and people involved.

After formation, the company must keep operating evidence: contracts, invoices, bank records, bookkeeping, beneficial-owner information, tax filings, annual accounts and payroll where relevant. A dormant certificate does not support a genuine-business narrative at the bank or a self-employed renewal. Ask the provider to price a normal operating year as well as the initial setup.

Families and daily life

Choose an education system before choosing the final address

Andorra has Andorran, French and Spanish public systems alongside private options. The Andorran system offers a Catalan-centred multilingual path and local integration. The French system supports continuity with the French framework, while the Spanish system can suit children already studying in Spanish or expecting to continue in Spain.

Curriculum, teaching language, capacity and the child’s likely next country matter as much as proximity. Contact schools early because admission and capacity remain outside a relocation provider’s control. Then map the commute and registration chain across immigration, the Comú and enrolment evidence.

Plan each family member separately

A spouse or partner’s right to reside, work and access insurance should not be inferred from the principal applicant’s route. Family reunification requires evidence of the sponsor’s status, the qualifying relationship, accommodation and sufficient household means; additional insurance may apply. Marriage, birth, custody and dependant documents may need recent issue, apostille and translation.

After approval, the practical workload may include parish registration, CASS and healthcare, insurance, school enrolment, utilities, driving-licence exchange, vehicle decisions, telephone service and Catalan learning. Decide which are included in the paid package and which remain the household’s responsibility.

Language: distinguish surviving from integrating

People who have moved to Andorra report different experiences of how far English alone will take you. That difference is useful. Some movers complete commercial tasks with translation apps, while longer-term residents describe language as a barrier to deeper participation. The balanced conclusion is that English may work in some commercial interactions, Catalan matters officially and culturally, Spanish and French are useful in daily life, and phone translation is not a substitute where a qualified translation is required.

Ask whether language support is available during consultation, document preparation, appointments and post-arrival administration. For children, the education system determines much of the language environment. For adults, the renewal rules make Catalan planning a formal issue as well as an integration choice.

After approval

Arrival administration is where coordination becomes visible

The move does not end at the immigration counter. The household may need to register locally, activate healthcare and insurance, arrange utilities and telecommunications, document occupation of the home, enrol children, change licences and decide whether an imported vehicle is eligible and economical to register. Deadlines and required evidence should be placed on one post-arrival checklist.

A good handover includes the next renewal date, what evidence to retain, who receives official notices and which recurring services continue after the initial package. If the provider disappears after approval, the client should still know how the first year is maintained.

Run the first months as three practical tracks

Status and registration. Collect the authorisation, understand its conditions, register with the Comú within the route-specific deadline and notify relevant bodies when address or civil status changes. Current active procedures generally allow up to three months for required Comú registration, while residence without work currently uses one month. The real deadline belongs in a shared calendar.

Healthcare and insurance. Qualifying self-employed residents normally connect to CASS through their registered activity. Residence-without-work categories generally require private sickness and incapacity cover outside CASS for the relevant people and period. Confirm when cover begins, how dependants are handled, what immigration accepts and whether the policy has waiting periods or exclusions.

Daily-life activation. Personal and company banking follow-up, utilities, internet, telephone, transport, school routines and bookkeeping often happen at the same time. Group tasks requiring physical identification into the same visit and keep copies of residence and address evidence ready.

Vehicles deserve a separate decision

Before paying to move a vehicle, check eligibility and total economics using its origin, age, technical specification, emissions or conformity, ownership history and any finance. A complete scope separates origin-country export or deregistration, border and customs work, technical inspection or modification, and Andorran insurance, registration and plates. Driving-licence rules form another deadline. If eligibility or cost is uncertain, selling before the move and buying locally should remain a genuine comparison option.

Choosing professional support

Match capabilities to the work—not the label on the firm

A lawyer, gestoria, accountant, relocation coordinator and property professional solve different problems. One firm may include several of them, but its brand does not expand each person’s professional competence or cover advice in the country being left.

Turn “full service” into a written scope

Require every proposal to separate preparation, filing, attendance, follow-up, customer tasks, third-party decisions and exclusions. For banking, distinguish an introduction from KYC preparation and contingency. For housing, distinguish automated listings from a tailored shortlist, accompanied viewings, negotiation, lease review and move-in support.

For a company, ask whether the quote ends at incorporation or includes banking, registered trade, CASS, bookkeeping, tax filings and annual accounts. For tax, name the countries covered. For life after approval, list the Comú, healthcare, insurance, renewals, language plan and family registrations.

What a useful lead professional actually does

The lead professional should create one dependency map, identify the regulated specialists, keep a shared timetable and tell the client when one decision changes another. If the bank requests a different company structure, the immigration and tax workstreams must be revisited. If housing is delayed, document validity and appointment timing may need to move.

Ask who is personally accountable for each deliverable, which work is subcontracted, which languages are available at appointments and how advice is documented. Introductions are useful, but an introduction is not the same as managed coordination, and neither is the same as professional responsibility for the underlying advice.

Warning signs in a relocation proposal

  • A residence route is recommended before the provider understands the actual work, company and family facts.
  • Bank approval, government timing, school capacity or tax outcomes are described as guaranteed.
  • The quote says “all included” without listing customer tasks, third-party fees and exclusions.
  • Property purchase is presented as automatically creating residence or tax residence.
  • An external company is suggested only to obtain Stripe, without substance or cross-border analysis.
  • The service stops at the first card and contains no renewal evidence or Catalan plan.

When full service is worth paying for

Coordination is more valuable when residence, company, tax and bank work must be sequenced; the household includes children or dependants; several countries remain relevant; source of wealth or ownership is complex; housing is a dependency; time in Andorra is limited; or language support is needed at appointments.

A narrower service may be enough when the route and sequence are confirmed, documents are straightforward, banking and housing are already secured, there is no company or cross-border tax issue and only one legal review or filing remains.

A five-factor service-level test

  1. People: multiple applicants, children, dependants or different work rights.
  2. Jurisdictions: continuing tax, companies, assets or homes abroad.
  3. Business: an Andorran company, self-employment, business banking, payroll or staff.
  4. Dependencies: banking, housing, investment or school evidence in a specific sequence.
  5. Execution: limited time in Andorra, language constraints or no person managing exceptions.

With none or one, targeted advice and filing may be sufficient. With two or three, begin with a paid feasibility review and decide whether one coordinator should own the critical path. With four or five, fragmented appointments are likely to duplicate work. This is a planning heuristic, not a legal eligibility test; one serious issue such as unresolved dual tax residence or a bank-sensitive business model can justify specialist advice by itself.

Comparing proposals

Separate four different kinds of money

A low headline price can exclude the items that dominate the first-year budget. Normalise each proposal into the same four buckets:

  1. Professional work: legal, tax, filing, coordination, property search and accounting setup.
  2. Public and third-party fees: government, notary, translations, apostilles, bank and registrations.
  3. Capital and deposits: money that remains owned, invested, restricted or potentially refundable.
  4. Recurring obligations: insurance, CASS, rent, bookkeeping, payroll, filings and renewals.

Ask for an assumptions list and a change-control rule. A quote based on a single applicant, uncomplicated criminal-record history and no company is not comparable with a family case involving several jurisdictions, a home search and business restructuring.

Use a dependency timeline, not a guaranteed completion date

No provider controls quotas, bank approval, landlord acceptance, school capacity, apostille processing or government decisions. A credible timeline identifies what can happen in parallel, which documents expire, where an in-person visit is needed and what happens if a third party takes longer than expected.

Model the first year and a normal later year

Setup costs attract attention, but recurring commitments determine whether the structure remains sensible. Model rent, insurance, CASS, bookkeeping, payroll, company filings, banking, travel and renewals after the one-time professional and government work is complete. Capital and deposits should be shown separately because they are not equivalent to a fee, even when the money becomes restricted or must remain invested.

The comparison should also show what happens if the plan changes. Can the household pause before filing? Which professional work has already been performed? Are third-party fees refundable? What happens to a property reservation if a bank or residence route becomes unavailable? These questions turn a price comparison into a risk comparison.

How this guide was prepared

Official rules first, lived experience second

Legal, immigration, language and product-availability statements were checked against current government or provider sources. Public Reddit and YouTube accounts were used to identify friction, sequencing problems and questions that commercial pages tend to omit. They are not treated as evidence of current law or typical outcomes.

Frequently asked questions

The practical short version

What do Andorra relocation services normally include?+

There is no standard package. It may include route orientation, residence administration, legal and tax coordination, personal banking, business banking, company formation, housing, schools, insurance, vehicles and arrival registration. Ask for a task-level scope.

Do I need a lawyer to move to Andorra?+

Not for every administrative task, but legal advice may be appropriate for eligibility, property or lease issues, companies, contracts, powers of attorney and cross-border questions. Identify which tasks are legal advice and who is qualified in the relevant jurisdiction.

Do I need a gestoria?+

Many residents use gestorias for forms, registrations, company administration and recurring filings. Whether you need one depends on your language, time and what a lawyer, accountant or coordinator already covers.

Can a relocation company open my personal bank account?+

It can assess likely fit, prepare the personal KYC file, arrange an introduction, attend the meeting and coordinate follow-up. You remain the applicant, may need to appear and answer questions, and the bank alone decides whether to approve the relationship.

What will the bank check personally?+

Expect identification, address, tax residence and TIN, economic activity, income or wealth origin, source of opening funds, purpose of the account and expected transactions. The exact evidence varies with the profile and may include statements, references, tax returns, income or business documents, sale records and third-party transfer explanations.

Should the Andorran bank account come before immigration?+

Where the selected route requires an official local-bank document, establishing the personal account is an early gate. A founder also needs a local capital account and certificate before company incorporation. The exact banking sequence should be confirmed against the current route and the applicant’s personal, family and business circumstances.

Can a newcomer rent before receiving residence?+

Yes. A normal rental agreement can supply accommodation evidence for standard active applications. Availability, landlord acceptance, price and whether the contract supports immigration and Comú registration are the real constraints.

Does buying property grant residence?+

No. A property can provide accommodation evidence and may qualify as an investment under a particular route, but ownership does not replace the residence application or prove tax residence.

Can an Andorran company use Stripe or PayPal?+

Stripe does not support an ordinary Andorra-based payments account at this review. PayPal provides an Andorra business flow, and local banks offer virtual POS products using local card infrastructure. Test the required currencies, subscriptions, refunds, disputes and integrations.

Can I retain a foreign company for Stripe?+

Potentially, if it keeps a genuine commercial role and appropriate substance. A shell maintained only to select a supported Stripe country is not a sound solution. Contracts, management, banking, tax, accounts and intercompany arrangements need cross-border review.

Do Wise or Revolut replace the local bank?+

Not where an Andorran account, official bank certificate, capital account or local merchant terminal is required. Wise can complement the local account. Revolut announced an intended Andorra launch during 2026, but live signup and features must be rechecked before relying on it.

Does every resident need Catalan for the next renewal?+

No. Timing depends on permit category and issue date. Published guidance schedules A1 and A2 requirements for specified self-employed, residence-without-work and digital-economy routes from 2029. Confirm the rule attached to the actual permit and begin planning early.

Where can I check the current Andorra residence requirements?+

Use the Andorra residency guide for route-by-route conditions, current financial amounts, source links and review dates. Recheck the relevant government procedure before committing money because quotas and requirements can change.

Is company formation included in relocation?+

Sometimes. Ask whether the quote covers only incorporation or the complete operating chain: structure, foreign investment, address, personal and company banking, capital, notary, trade, tax, CASS, books, payroll and recurring filings.

Can an Andorran adviser handle departure-country tax?+

Only if the engagement and professional competence explicitly cover that country. Many moves need an adviser in the country being left as well as Andorran advice, with one person coordinating both.

What do families need beyond a school application?+

Education-system choice, area and commute planning, dependant applications, enrolment sequencing, healthcare, insurance, childcare, language support and first-term settlement. Capacity and admission remain outside the provider’s control.

Can I complete the process in English?+

Some providers and businesses work in English, but Catalan is the official language and English is not universal in administration or daily life. Specify consultation, document, translation and appointment support separately.

How much do relocation services cost?+

Fees vary by applicants, workstreams, jurisdictions and complexity. Compare professional fees separately from public charges, notary, translation, capital, investment, deposits, insurance and recurring company or renewal costs.

Can a provider guarantee approval or completion?+

No provider controls immigration, bank, landlord, school, insurer, notary or other third-party decisions. It can prepare, coordinate and estimate, but should disclose dependencies rather than guarantee the outcome.
