Moving a dog or cat from Great Britain to the EU
Start with a microchip, rabies vaccination and an animal health certificate for your first EU entry. The destination can add arrival steps, so choose your route in the planner for a dated checklist.
Cyprus
Check the permitted arrival point and notify the district veterinary office before arrival. This route covers the Republic of Cyprus.
Malta
Submit Malta's pets arrival notification. Dogs also need tapeworm treatment in the required window before arrival.

Why is my route not covered?
This planner publishes only corridors whose rules we can keep checked against a current official source. If your route is missing, the planner refuses to answer with another country's rules — pet entry rules are set by each destination and do not generalise. Check the official guidance for your corridor, or use a supported route as a worked example.
What if I enter the EU in another country first?
The planner only models a direct arrival into the selected country, because the 10-day certificate window belongs to your first EU entry. A ferry or flight that lands, or a drive that crosses a border, in a different EU country first shifts every deadline to that earlier entry — the plan above would be wrong for it, so it stays out of scope.
Does this check airline rules?
No. Government entry rules and a carrier's pet policy are different things. An airline, ferry or tunnel operator can refuse a booking for reasons that have nothing to do with these documents — cabin rules, breed lists, routes, temperatures. Confirm your pet's booking with the carrier itself.
What about bringing my pet back?
Return rules to Great Britain depend on the country you are coming from and are not modelled here. Read the GOV.UK return guidance for your destination before you travel, and treat any return tapeworm treatment as a separate dated task.
Can I move more than one pet, or sell/rehome one?
One accompanying pet per plan. You can add up to 5 pets to one animal health certificate on a private trip; more than that, or any change of ownership, is a commercial movement with different rules and is out of scope here.

Is a pet passport enough?
For Great Britain owners entering the EU, no. GOV.UK is explicit: an EU pet passport cannot be used to enter the EU if you live in England, Scotland or Wales — you need a new animal health certificate for each separate trip. Owners living in Northern Ireland follow a different document.
