How it is calculated

1. Every calendar date from your entry date to your exit date is counted, including both of those days.
2. Stays that overlap or touch are merged, so one date is never counted twice.
3. For each day, the tool counts Schengen days in the 180 days ending on that day, including the day itself.
4. A day is compliant while its own window holds no more than the limit. The tool reports the highest count it finds and the first date on which a window passes it.
5. In plan mode, one consecutive day is added at a time and the projection stops before the first day that would exceed the limit.

Dates are handled as whole calendar days, so a change to or from summer time cannot shorten or lengthen a stay.

What this tool does not decide

• A short-stay visa can authorise fewer than 90 days, and its own validity dates also apply. This tool does not read your visa sticker.
• A residence permit or a long-stay (D) visa is outside this short-stay calculation for the country that issued it. It does not give an unlimited right to stay in other Schengen countries, where the 90/180 rule can still apply.
• Days outside the Schengen area are not counted, including days in Cyprus and Ireland.
• This tool does not check a right of entry, nationality-specific waivers, bilateral agreements, border decisions, or permission to work or live in a country.
• A plan assumes no additional travel after your planned entry date. Later trips are not modelled yet.
